Aims and Rules
The club has been set up as a non profit making organisation, aiming to develop the awareness and involvement of individuals of all ages in the Freestyle Ski and Snowboard scene. Freestyle includes both New & Old School disciplines including performing tricks over jumps , riding of rails, boxes, tubes and tricks in Half & Quarter pipes on Snow & Artificial ski slopes. There is a cross over into racing with both Skier & Boarder cross events.
The club has started at Bracknell ski slope where club members help with the slope's Sunday afternoon Freestyle training session (4-6pm) but it is hoped that members will join throughout Southern England promoting the club ethos & safety standards. All active members will through their own slope contact have a say in how the club is run.

Note: It is not required to be a member of the Southern Freestyle Club to take part in public freestyle sessions in any slope but we may sometimes run our own dedicated sessions. The current Sunday Freestyle practise session run at Bracknell is put on by John Nike Leisuresport but is supported by members of the Southern Freestyle Club. The John Nike Staff provide basic ramp/rail safety supervision. The Freestyle advice is provided by the Freestyle Club to primarily to its own members. The Southern Freestyle Club have also taken over maintenance of the Bracknell Freestyle equipment & have started increasing the stock from its own funds.
Safety
Always be aware of and obey local safety rules, ride with at least on other person on the slope.
Wear protective equipment , a helmet is mandatory at almost all slopes & parks now , a back protector is strongly advised , padded shorts , knees & elbows will reduce pain on impact!
Slopes may require use of own boards & skis which ideally should be twin tips, din setting for ski bindings need to be higher than for general skiing.
Train to be a good skier/boarder, minimum levels are parallel / linked turns, try to be as comfortable riding switch (backwards) as you are forwards.
Do some warm up runs before hitting freestyle equipment, get used to the slope condition on that day.
Inspect the kit in the park before you hit it the first time, does it look safe, how are other riders dealing with it?
Make sure the previous rider has safely left the landing area before you start to run in, signal your run.
Get away from the landing area as quickly as possible.
Help anyone who is injured by initially closing that equipment to other riders (crossed arms, poles, skis mean do not enter this area) & then getting first aid help, do not attempt to move an injured person unless it is absolutely necessary for their immediate safety & you are trained in how to do it. In any fall a head or neck injury is possible & any movement could make the situation much worse.
If injured do not try to move straight away allow first aid/medical staff to assess that you are safe to move without causing further damage.
If you are on a wintersports holiday check your holiday insurance covers injuries in Freestyle Parks.
There is no reason not to enjoy Freestyle snowports if you follow the above advice , the sport is probably on a par with Rugby in terms of danger level, it is an extreme physical sport & thus you do need to take appropriate precautions.
